SNAKEBITE

Bromley stoner-metallers Snakebite, who played Bloodstock this year alongside the likes of Carcass and Europe are set to play at Wacken in 2010.

They reached Bloodstock through the Band Quest competition, beating the likes of Falling Empire, Into Exile and Shadow Aspect in the process. When they played the festival they were among the bands being checked out for a possible place at Wacken - and they got it!

The following words are taken from www.myspace.com/snakebiteuk:

As a result of our well-recieved set on the Bloodstock unsigned stage, we've been chosen to represent the UK at Wacken Metal Battle! This is an international battle of the bands with the final taking place at the world's BIGGEST outdoor metal event!

This is the first time that the UK has entered this contest and we can only say that we feel deeply honoured (and very bewildered) to have been chosen!

BIG THANKS TO

Bloodstock (for having us)

ALBUM REVIEW

O.M.T - Anamantium

O.M.T myspace

Click on band links below for info:

O.M.T

Hailing from the south coast O.M.T (or Our Malevolent Tyranny in full) have released a collection of songs which will go some way to help them reach their aim of spreading the METAL!

Having already walked away with the honours at a recent showcase night at the Camden Underworld supporting Alestorm and Silent Descent O.M.T have backed this achievement up with a fine album which should make their immediate future all the better.

Both album opener 'That new reality' and 'Blue eyed love' are belters, using the bands knack of combining aggressiveness with glorious melody to outshine many contemporaries.

The influence of Iron Maiden is stamped all over the guitars, with the likes of 'Peel all your skin away' and 'Near death' containing solos to die for, leaving lead player Joffy Bailey's ability to shred for England in no doubt.

There is a whiff of hardcore in places, like the group chanted chorus of 'Break shake' but the band are just too melodic to fall into the generic metalcore genre. The vocals from Stewart Ferguson are heavy and melodic in all the right places making some other bands attempts to do both almost laughable.

'Anamantium' is a fine debut album, providing O.M.T with some useful artillary for their support slot on the Breed 77 tour. This album sounds big but live O.M.T sound massive. You have been warned.

DEMO REVIEW

Dystolic - Demo 2009

Dystolic myspace

Click on band links below for info:

DYSTOLIC

Gravesend and Dartford 5-piece Dystolic have shown a huge leap in maturity with their latest release. The audio onslaught that meets you as 'The fundamental massacre' slams itself into your consciousness is on par with a ten inch nail being hammered into your forehead. 'Surround me in shadows' takes a step off the throttle with a doomey, sludge filled intro before giving way to a track that contains a disturbing chorus, where a distant melody fights for attention from beneath a barrage of riffs and Strapping Young Lad-esque drums. 'Game over' finishes off the demo, it's athmospheric gaze almost ripping open a post-rock gateway to extreme chaos.

'Demo 2009' is a gigantic stride forward for Dystolic. Its three tracks contain more twists and turns than any of their previous material or live sets, showing they are able to add subtle touches to their work alongside the wall of intensity.

AUSTRIAN DEATH MACHINE

Get pumped! Double Brutal should be in your puny little hands by now since it's available all over Europe since last week!

If not, click your way over to the bands MySpace to hear their cover of Motorhead's Iron Fist!

www.myspace.com/austriandeathmachine

Tim Lambesis adds: “Ahhnold and I were able to put together an entire CD full of great cover songs related to his movies. Since we released one song from the originals disc already, we figured it was time for everyone to hear a cover as well. Even now you've only heard less than 1/10 of the album, so make sure to pick up the whole thing!”

“I know this record's meant to be a joke, but Austrian Death Machine's really funny, and the music is pretty good. Even if they're taking a piss.” James Hetfield in Revolver Magazine
