The journey to Bloodstock ends here! 8 bands battle it out for a place at the best UK metal festival along with many more bands over the course of the day.
Metallers PANIC CELL headline the day as very special guests. Those who haven't seem them tear up stages alongside the likes of Testament, Children of Bodom and Kittie should not miss them!
Both SILENT DESCENT and DENOUNCE will be battling it out for prizes alongside the other 6 bands who qualified for the final but obviously cannot win the 'Bloodstock place' having played the festival last year.
The real battle of the day is between extreme metallers CARPATHIA, groove metallers SNAKEBITE, INTO EXILE who put in one of the best first heat performances, play-off winners SILAS, local venue crushers FALLING EMPIRE and also SHADOW ASPECT, REASONABLE DOUBT and COLT 44. The Bloodstock judge will pick one of these bands to grace the festival stage this summer.
The music does not stop there. The second stage sees the best band not to qualify for the final SANCTORUM spread the metal gospel alongside everyones favourite all-dayer band ZOCALO. STANDING ON GIANTS, O.M.T and VENXIA also play.

GIG REVIEW
Band Quest Metal play off (Silas) @ Bull N Vic - 11/05/09
1st) Silas
2nd) Odessa Step Sequence
3rd) Lycan's Blood
With only one slot left in the Band Quest metal final it was up to these three bands to battle it out for the slot. Lycan'S Blood and Odessa Step Sequence had both finished behind bands who had played Bloodstock last year in their earlier heats so qualified for this play off. Silas were sort of lucky losers after being brought in to replace Affluenza, who decided not to participate in this play off after losing out to Silent Descent and Into Exile in last weeks semi final.
Local heroes Silas (6.5/10) may have been lucky to get another chance but if any band deserved a slice of luck it was Silas. They were unable to take part in last years competition due to problems with personnel, which virtually wiped them off the planet for most of 2008. Tonight at times saw an improved performance from when they lost out to the more muscular Shattered Alliance. The vocal melodies were much better and helped carry the songs to where they have been waiting to go to for a while. Some of the guitar playing was excellent and the professionalism shown when dealing with the initial sound problems and moving drums was first class - basically they just get on with it and end up qualifying for the final.
It was strange for Lycan'S Blood (6.5) as they actually put on a pretty good performance. Each song had enough punch to keep the crowd interested and Alex on lead guitar played a blinder. Singer Matt showed he can growl and sing with the best of them but also slightly annoyed the neutral crowd member with continuous silly chatter.
Out of the three bands Odessa Step Sequence (7) look the more natural to play somewhere like Bloodstock. The set flies past in a death metal fury, with lightling fast riffs flying here, there and everywhere. Despite this the actual songs begin to sound very samey ten minutes into the set. Fellow kent death metallers Denounce play fast and heavy but always have enough variation in their tight as hell sets to keep everyone interested. Tonight, the set from Odessa Step Sequence lacks this variation which could have contributed to their downfall.
Band Quest is now drawing to a close with the Tier 2 final (for bands who just missed out on the tier 1 final) at the Bull n Vic on Monday 25th May and the main Tier 1 final at the Red Lion on Monday 31st of May still to go. On the 31st we will know who will be going to Bloodstock this year.

BAND PROFILE
Shameful Behaviour
Shameful Behaviour is a band with attitude and a mission. That mission is to spread real rock music back to the masses.
The music is a concoction of great pumping Original Rock & Metal with songs that tell a story and have meaning with face-melting lead guitar, just as it should be and hasn't been for a long time, mixed with classic covers that blend invisibly with the rest of the material.
The band has previously had no shame in admitting it’s obvious Kiss influences, especially Slick and Rex wearing more makeup and higher heels than a cheap hooker. And not to forget the pyrotechnics and smoking guitar...
Shameful Behaviour is made up of...
Slick Valentine - Slick is a songwriter and a British guitar hero for the 21st century in the style of the old school guitar heroes from the past. With many years playing pubs and clubs in different bands Slick honed his style to its powerful heights. Influenced by all the greats! Slick has also Jammed with Noel Redding and with EC when he was only 14. Currently abusing: Dean Guitars, Rotosound strings and his long suffering Marshall Amps.
Rocco Savage – Rocco is a real powerhouse rock drummer with a single kick pedal that sounds like a double. With previous bands such as Angel Witch (Founder member) and Blind Fury, and also many deps and sessions, Rocco is a great talent. Influences are John Bonham, Ian Paice, Bill Ward, Cozy Powell. Currenly Savaging Pearl Drums, Vater Sticks, Remo Heads, Zildjian and Paiste cymbals.
Rex Thunderbolt – Imagine the bastard child of Steve Harris, Cliff Burton, Gene Simmons and Colin Grigson, you'll be getting close to the bass monster that is Rex Thunderbolt.
An energetic bass player of vast experience in many styles, Rex is excited about the "balls to the wall" honesty and integrity of Shameful Behaviour after hearing years and years of washed out imitations of Rock and Roll. Rex has been working in and around 'the business' for many years and has worked with some of the greats, including Radiohead and Def Leppard.
Rex is a long time user and abuser of Dean basses and Rotosound strings.

METAL BLADE NEWS
CANNIBAL CORPSE receives Canadian platinum plaques for 'Centuries Of Torment' DVD!
On Tuesday, April 21st, the mighty CANNIBAL CORPSE received their ‘Centuries Of Torment’ platinum plaques in Montreal, QC, Canada. 'Centuries of Torment' was certified platinum in Canada earlier this year just before the crushing release of 'Evisceration Plague'.
Bassist Alex Webster comments on the end of the Canadian dates as they come to a wrap: "Our recent Canadian tour was a total success, every show was packed and the crowds were full of energy. We really received a great response, which is something we've come to expect from our Canadian fans. We want to thank all of our Canadian fans for coming out to the gigs and making the tour so killer, and also for making Centuries of Torment and Evisceration Plague two of the most successful releases in our band's history."
