MONDAY 17 DECEMBER
Metal Monday
This Monday sees the return of the local prog merchants EQUINOX. They are backed up by FIGHT THE FURY but it is Metal Monday debutantes CONQUEST that will probably prove the most interesting! With a sound that flits between early 80s traditional metal to energetic hard rock, Conquest will show other bands what this playing live malarkey is all about.
On Vocals they have ex Cardiac man Kev Eardley:
On one guitar they have the fastest guitar player in the West, Roy Stone:
And on the other guitar the nicest man in rock, Les Clayden:
Ex Wake Up Dead drummer, Keith Barnes completes the line–up:
So get down to the Drayman on Monday 17th December to see a true 'heavy metal' band.
For more info on Conquest visit the Conquest myspace page.
ANDY FINNEY will open the night with a guess the riff competition. DJ GAMBLIN will provide the musical refreshments between bands.
The beast that is Metal Monday returns to a new home at the The Drayman in Bexleyheath every Monday. £1.50 for loyalty card holders – £2.00 for everyone else.

GIG REVIEW
The Black Dahlia Murder + Job For a Cowboy @ LA2 – 14/12/07
Having seen Job For a Cowboy (JFAC) at Download this year I was looking forward to finally catching them in London. The first thing that caught my eye was the crowd. Twenty four hours earlier I was at the Purple Turtle witnessing the almighty Evile decimating the venue. The crowds for both shows couldn't have been more different. Eviles crowd were more of the traditional variety - by this I mean your average metal-head with ages more varied. The crowd at the LA2 on Friday seemed totally contemporary with barely a handful of people over 25. 'Darkest Hour' and 'The Black Dahlia Murder' t-shirts seemed to be most prevelent with barely an older band t-shirt to be seen except one Metallica one. This may seem irrelevant but might help explain why their was such a response to JFAC appearing on the cover of Terrorizer magazine this year!
Now to the music. JFAC were like a wall of sound exploding from the stage for the whole set. Jonny Davys vocals were on top form all night while Jon Rice pummelled the drums like it was his final act. Although not as pulsating as at Download the crowd lapped up every note, riff and drum beat (6/10).
The Black Dahlia Murder (TBDM) seemed to have another gear, a few more tricks and were better on the night. You could see why they were headliners on this tour. The songs were more varied where JFAC tracks sometimes seemed to sound a little samey. TBDM also had the benefit of guitar solos which helped twist the songs into different shapes and then back again. Once again, the crowd lapped it all up (7/10).
Overall, TBDM made the night a good one.
