Then we hear CARPATHIA bring an eclectic blend of black, thrash and prog metal to the table. Oh what a night it will be! DJ GAMBLIN keeps things metal in between bands.

GIG REVIEW
Darbex Band Quest (Metal Heat 5) @ Drayman - 10/03/08
DESIGNS OF CHAOS
SCHIZOPHRENIA
AS THE RIGHTEOUS FALL
After a very average heat lastweek attention was on the three bands in heat 5.
Most bands would kill for half the energy that As The Righteous Fall display throughout their set. The crowd couldn't get near if they wanted to as the band filled the stage and half the floor in front of them. Their 'Job for a Killswitch' sound had moments of uplifting vigor with the drummer proving to be a powerful constant throughout. The actual songs though seemed to lack the structure which would push the band to the next level. (6/10)
Designs of Chaos have the look of a bunch of blokes who can look after themselves on stage and off it! The groove-ridden riffs complimented by the sometimes punk-like vocals helped drill together a tight set. There weren't too many individual standout tracks but it was mainly the attitude, maturity and overall sound that proved to be the winning elements. (7/10)
Thrash-meisters Schizophrenia wear their influences on their sleaves with the likes of Exodus, Testament and Slayer springing to mind. The biggest crowd of the night got up close and personal while Schizophrenia dispatched the speeing riffs. At times you could hear moments of which wouldn't be out of place on the latest Earache release but these moments are not frequent enough. The band have a sound which will develop over the next few months but like the bands before them lack a killer song or two to really whip the crowd into a frenzy. This competition may have come a year too soon for Schizophrenia but who would bet against them in twelve months time? (6.5/10)

We're incredibly excited to be working with these reputable gentlemen and also to lay down our most accomplished, diverse and strongest material to date."

If you want to help make this a massive success come to any of the 3 events this Sunday / Monday / Tuesday.
4 alternative bands needed – we need more bands to 'confirm' their intent to play.
We are doing this:
- 1x A Battle of the bands with a twist featuring show case events!
- 2x 20 track cds called 'scratch the surface' one heavy one light!
- 3x Magazine called Altascope, featuring all acts taking part and more!
We have now got 99 bands interested with 82 confirmed, so we are now taking on a reserve list and back up list in case any bands that have committed drop out or decide not to take part for what ever reason.
Therefore we ask 3 things of thee!
We are deep in talks with festivals and promoters about getting our bands playing for them. We have £7000 of prizes already committed and 1 in 3 bands will win something.
There will be:
- 100 bands playing by the end of this comp
- 2 x 20 track cds launched to support the quest
- 3 Magazines called Altascope covering ALL local music activity
- Around 400 playing musicians and 100 professional people involved in making this work
- 45 events with over 6000 people attending
- 20,000 flyers hand to hand
- 500 posters
- 33 prizes worth over £7500
- Media, Radio, Record label support and coverage
- And a bucket loads of bloody great nights in good venues!

DRUMMER NEEDED!
Experienced drummer needed for rock/indie/punk band
We are a rock/indie/punk band looking for an experienced drummer to join the group. We are a highly energetic band with a good backlog of catchy and original material and we need an enthusiastic drummer who shows passion for music. We have gigs and other opportunities lined up so we need someone ASAP. Have a listen to our tunes at www.myspace.com/mainshum. We only have a few tunes recorded, but our style varies a lot so they don't necessarily portray us accurately.
