ANNOUNCEMENT
We are no longer booking bands - but you can still book yourselves!
Update - 26/09/08:
Bands can hire our equipment and sound engineers on request and can play at any of our rock nights on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
Terms and conditions apply. The main difference is WE are not booking bands.
Original announcement:
It's true, Today after much love, and having tried to get out at an earlier stage than this I have decided to put an end to the misery of finding bands to play local shows and interest the scene in live music. It seems as if we have very little respect for what we have tried to do over the years so its time to leave it to those who feel they can do a better job, i am sure there are willing takers!! Good luck to em, if we couldn't achieve anything from £500,000 of business over 7 years, then not sure who can! All of which is now lost to the wind and i personally need to earn money for which i have not done more than £100 a week for 6 years so figure i deserve to.
We would love it if a couple of you bands would be up for playing our farewell shows this/next week, we want Hevvy bands on Sunday at OHM Bar, Alt Bands on Tuesday at Bull n Vic and Alt Bands Next Friday at Goldsmiths Tavern. The Red Lion is still to be The BIGGEST show we have ever done 28th September, with 40 acts playing and maybe our last one for a very very long time under the RM umbrella at £4 adv tickets (10p per act).
After that we'll be just doing the Drayman on Thursdays and we will also be working with our other venues in providing staff and equipment when deemed required. OHM is a great bar and we will be running nights there as dj's nights on Sundays, Tuesdays will be entertainment nights without bands at Bull n Vic and same on Fridays at the Goldsmiths Tavern.
However, IF bands wish to put a line up into one of these nights RM has agreed to oversee this and would be hirable to do so. All the venues have been very understanding and supportive over the last few weeks and i would like to thank them all for that.
With pubs nationally losing a reported £11,000,000 a week, and Bands being able to pick and choose gigs at any number of pubs that are happy with sub 100 attending gigs, it is felt that the support required to build up a local scene just isn't enough, and with some bands and band members self elevating themselves above local level (for good and bad reasons) the connectivity of the scene has become fragmented.
Regretfully i have wasted 7 years of my life genuinely trying to make things happen for bands yet seemingly only ever been criticized for my efforts, it really isn't worth the time of day explaining what running a TRUE and honest businesses really takes, so i wont. It was worth the try though, and i honestly did try.
We also wanted to be able to replace over £5000 worth of ageing equipment which has seen its best days, and with gigs being such low revenue this would not be possible.
The oddest thing is this has been our most successful year, seeing RM clear over the last 3 years its massive £67,000 debts it racked up in the first 3 years now gone. Also deregistration from VAT has meant not being able to 'take' much more money per event without re-registration which could have meant a further £10,000 VAT bill. So even in success we are stifled lol!
So the long and short and as they say on Dragons Den - I'm Out!
Thanks for those of you who have performed and attended our events, i am just sorry we didn't do a good enough job to keep you all happy.
Adam
PS- Thursdays are the same as always, that's where it started and this is how it will end!
and, many thanks to Alan Hicks who has been religious in helping rock matrix, sorry it hasn't come to much.

METAL BLADE NEWS
CANNIBAL CORPSE post first studio update from Mana studios!
Florida Death Metal kings CANNIBAL CORPSE have posted the first studio update from their work at Mana Studios, St. Petersburg, Florida. Check it out... "Hey everybody, Alex from Cannibal here checking in from Mana Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida. Paul has finished all the drums tracks for our new album, and we think he did an amazing job. Things really went smoothly with the drum tracking this time, and that gave us a little extra time for Paul to get creative with some of the drum parts. Everything is still fast and brutal as you'd expect, but there are a few different rhythmic ideas happening that we think our fans will appreciate.
The next step for us will be to start working on a guitar sound, and then begin guitar tracking. The sound of the rhythm guitar is one of the most important things on a metal album, so we will take our time and make sure that we get the heaviest sound possible. The recording of the rhythm guitars will be something we'll take our time with as well. Rob, Pat and producer Erik Rutan are truly perfectionists when it comes to guitar tracking, they'll settle for nothing less than a flawless performance. That kind of dedication can make for a challenging recording session, but when the end result is a crushingly heavy album it's more than worth the time and effort.
OK, that's all for now. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks, we'll have lots of cool info for you such as the new album's title, song titles, studio photos, and more."
