GIG REVIEW
Darbex Band Quest (Metal Heat 4) @ Drayman - 03/03/08
KLUNK
REPUGNANT INEBRIATION
THE RODEO PLAN
After the almighty clash between Zocalo and Without Remorse in last weeks semi-final it seems a little strange to find ourselves back into the normal heat stages but here we are. Three more bands battling it out for a place in the second semi-final.
First up are The Rodeo Plan. Full of energy, attitude and excitement these screamo metallers gave their all with a set of short, sharp and punchy tunes. These songs sometimes threaten to deliver a top chorus or melody but never quite get there. The frontman leaps around like he is possessed while the rest of the band never stay still which adds a little extra to their performance. (6/10)
Death metallers Repugnant Inebriation show they have been around a little while longer. Tight and mature they blast through 30 minutes of Deicide inspired metal which goes down well with the now assembled throng. Several tracks really slap the crowd into shape but they are played a different times in the set which overall, never really keeps the momentum going. Despite this the raging closing number could be used to clear mines in Afganistan, let alone decimate the crowd at Bloodstock. (6.5/10)
After the two previous bands had failed to really drive home an advantage, Klunk were in a good position to run away with it, but as with the others delivered an average set with a few highlights. The opening track failed to ignite the venue, with some not realising they had actually started. After this they slowly built a momentum which hooked more people as the set went on. The odd 'Wylde' guitar sound and a funky bass line here and there helped push some of the choruses onto another level. Not bad. (6/10)

We are very excited to work with Jonny on this record which will be released around Sumertime on Metal Blade Records. Stay tuned for more updates. Thanks."

If you want to help make this a massive success come to any of the 3 events this Sunday / Monday / Tuesday.
4 alternative bands needed – we need more bands to 'confirm' their intent to play.
We are doing this:
- 1x A Battle of the bands with a twist featuring show case events!
- 2x 20 track cds called 'scratch the surface' one heavy one light!

There will be:
- 100 bands playing by the end of this comp

- 3 Magazines called Altascope covering ALL local music activity
- Around 400 playing musicians and 100 professional people involved in making this work
