THURSDAY 14 JANUARY
Rat n Parrot Re-Lived - A Tribute to Spider (Deon Weston)
Deon Weston (Spider) quite simply is a legend, as legendary as the nights at the Rat n Parrot where he frequented, and for many the reason why so many people in the local Rock Scene know each other to this day. Spider was buried on Wednesday 30th December 2009 and the church service was packed with friends and family who will miss him dearly.
What many dont realise is it was Deon's love of music that was a big part of how the Thursday night rock nights became so successful. Deon introduced Danielle Baker (Deon's Group Admin) to the music we are all familier with. Danielle was a barmaid at the Kings Arms where it all started and she helped round up over a hundred people for the very first night.
From there - no turning back.
So this night is a dedicated night to the life and love of music of Deon Weston, our friend Spider.
King Steve and The Kev the original DJ's from the Kings Arms will be guest DJ's.
It will be a charity night with a £2 donation as entry to the Spina Bifida charity, the condition Spider suffered from all his life. 100% of ALL money raised will go to the charity. We would like an offer of help in printing flyers and posters and distributing them.
Please of course search high and low to the depths of the alternative scene and bring back everyone we know who attended the Rat n Parrot and and especially who knew Spider.
Thanks for all the support.
Rest In Peace Our Dear Friend Deon 'Spider' Weston Facebook group
Rat n Parrot Re-Lived - A Tribute to Spider at the Ivory Lounge in Bexleyheath.
£2.00 on the door.

IGNOMINIOUS INCARCERATION
"It's nice to know that theres extreme bands ready to rip 2010 a new one. Ignominious Incarceration are one such band."
Jason Brett (Rock Matrix) - Full review in reviews section of this newsletter.
Ignominious Incarceration are a fast-rising modern death metal band based in Bath in the UK. This talented, young five-piece deliver an instantly recognisable, crushing, modern sound whilst being unmistakably rooted in traditional death metal.
Having only formed in 2006, Ignominious Incarceration are one fast-moving band.
Only six weeks after forming in a small town called Wellington in the UK, the band played their first gig to a humble audience of around 20 people. By the time the band played their third show, they had replaced Abigail Williams on a tour slot as the main support act for Bring Me The Horizon and were playing to over 400 people.

Since those early shows, Ignominious Incarceration have been moving at light-speed, both musically and in their progression as a band. Quickly being tipped as one of the best new British death metal bands, they have toured with the likes of Trigger the Bloodshed and Bleed From Within, and have an unreleased 6-track EP under their belts.
In May 2008, only two years after forming, Ignominious Incarceration's hard-working ethic paid off as the band signed a worldwide record deal with extreme metal label, Earache Records.

BEHOLDER
"The main stage was opened by BEHOLDER (8) who know a thing or two about getting a crowd warmed up. Their set at Bloodstock was one of many highlights for that festival and they approached this with equal vigour. Frontman Simon Hall bellows over some meaty metal containing enough thick riffs to last all day, let alone the twenty minutes they play today."
Rock Matrix (Hellfire Festival II)
"It was already warm on Sunday morning when openers BEHOLDER (8) took to the stage. Frontman Simon Hall, for those who don't know, is one of the principle organisers of the Metal for the Masses arm of Bloodstock. He took a break from looking after the unsigned bands long enough to help get the day off to a great start. The old school metal vibe alongside a set of songs each containing either a memorable fist punching chorus or neck moving riff had the early rising crowd moving. Mr Hall seemed surprised with the reception, but today Beholder got everything they deserved."
Komodo Rock (Bloodstock)
"Beholder (KKKK) win hearts on Sunday morning with their meat and potatoes metal."
Kerrang Magazine
"Unremittingly entertaining."
Dave Ling (Classic Rock)
"His Belligerent bellow and beer swiggin showmanship works a treat."
Terrorizer magazine
When you take the former blazing front man from THE HANDSOME BEASTS, the driving riffs and dynamic solos from BLACK FORTRESS, the manic bottom end growl of ADRENALIN KICK, and the raw percussive power of ZERO 1 ZERO you can get only one thing BEHOLDER.
With the members of BEHOLDER having forged their own stamp in the live music market, they've cut their teeth on years of experience in the live scene and now taking their own dynamic Heavy Metal on the road alongside releasing their highly anticipated album 'The Awakening'.
Recorded under the watchful gaze of Engineer Andy Faulkner at Sable Rose Studios. Previous album works have included Bolthrower, Siam and Marshal Law.
Started as a covers band side project BEHOLDER was initially part time relief to the drudgery of recording and the inevitable gaps between touring each members own permanent projects. But with the success of the band, along with the emergence of Beholders loyal fan base, then events took an inevitable turn towards the creation of the true BEHOLDER.

ALBUM REVIEW
Ignominious Incarceration - Of Winter Born
As we come to the end of 2009, it's nice to know that theres extreme bands ready to rip 2010 a new one. Ignominious Incarceration are one such band.
Signing to Earache Records and unleashing their debut album 'Of Winter Born', Ignominious Incarceration are set for a promising career and as for the album, its very impressive indeed.
'Of Winter Born' is a relentless, melodic and brutal album, a furocious slab of modern death metal, it's a definate winner, oozing with technical proficiency and beautiful melodicy, making it a very entertaining listen and should please the death metal buffs and also general metal fans alike.
The record doesn't let up track after track, clocking in at 35 minutes, it'll leave you crushed and gagging for more, with great headbanging moments, chugging riffs and technical lead flourishes throughout, 'Of Winter Born' is a very consistent offering, which only works in its favour.
This is an extreme metal album packed full of ideas, it will no doubt kick Ignominious Incarceration onto something very promising. Watch this space.

GIG REVIEW
Sabaton + Panic Cell @ Garage - 13/12/09
Openers Malefice (7/10) had everything against them tonight. Being the first band on is always the hardest, especially seeing as outside was freezing cold, so warming up this crowd seemed like a very hard task indeed.
They took to the stage with such power and aggression that instantly they had the crowd cheering and head banging. Only a half hour set seemed too short for these guys as they ripped through their material and had pits breaking out throughout their set. The only thing that let them down was the poor vocal sound at the Garage which for the first few tracks was very hard to hear any vocals at all but regardless they carried on and played a brutal and extremely impressive set.
Second on was Panic Cell (8). Tonight seemed like the night for bands just exploding onto stage, Panic Cell jumped on stage and had the crowd eating out of their hands regardless of the singer having to stand in between the stage and crowd due to the stage being so small. This just made the crowd love it even more.
Panic Cell had the same vocal issue of having intermittent vocals the first few tracks, but again just ploughed through and did an amazing job, playing some new material which went down a storm. Even having a Seal cover 'Crazy' had the crowd singing and head banging which was just a great site to see.
Tonight was the night when Sabaton (10) needed to pull everything out of the bag and boy did they do it. The whole Garage was heaving by the time they came on and chants of Sabaton were ongoing until they hit the stage. Playing tracks from all their albums tonight just seemed like an epic night of Metal Karaoke.
After coming off a UK tour with Dragonforce this was their first headlining gig in the U. In all my years of gigs I don't think I've ever seen a band so grateful towards the crowd for being so loud and appreciative of their stuff. The vocalist had a permanent grin on his face as did the rest of the band, all of them standing on stage after each track in amazement at how well the crowd knew their stuff and loved them.
All in all tonight showed just how far Sabaton have come in the past few years and seem ready for the next tour next year along with their new album which they will be writing in the studio as soon as they get home!

METAL BLADE NEWS
SIX FEET UNDER get ready Graveyard Classics 3!
Tampa, FL's kings of groove laden Death Metal Six Feet Under are back with their 3rd installment of the band's cover series, 'Graveyard Classics 3', due out on Metal Blade Records January 18th 2010. 'Graveyard Classics 3' was recorded at D.O.I. Digital Audio in Tampa, FL, was mixed at Audiohammer Studios by Mark Lewis, and was produced by Chris Barnes.
Here's what the godfather of gore and death Chris Barnes has to say about the band's latest chapter in the Graveyard Classics chain:
"We went about picking the tracks for this installment of Graveyard Classics by really just trying to search out songs from early on in our musical upbringing, as well as tracks from when we were just fans of heavy music, before we started playing in a band. Once again choosing songs that have really stuck with us over the years, also choosing the songs that we felt would sound interesting when played in the SFU 'death groove' style.
Through the years of doing covers, many of our fans have inquired about us covering a Slayer or a Metallica song. It was really something we wanted to do for some time, those two bands being our biggest influences, as well as influencing a generation of death metal musicians.
To sum it up...this is a tribute to honor the great teachers that have influenced us as well as the world of metal we all belong to. We hope our fans will enjoy."

Intrepid Fox
Conceived by rock n' roll, born the bastard child of punk; raised on streets filled with trash, worshipped on the altar of rock and welded to the engine by metal...!!! Ladies and gentlemen, we give you the infamous INTREPID FOX... From it's beginnings in the heart of Soho in the sixties, once patronised by the likes of Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood, hellraising actors Richard Harris and Peter O'Toole; the seventies led to the Sex Pistols and Malcolm Mclaren proclaiming it "like an old friend"; Slash could be seen propping up the bar in the eighties whilst the nineties provided a watering-hole for such legends as Lemmy and Zakk Wylde... Re-located to it's new lair in St Giles in 2006, the Fox continues to uphold the alternative spirit, playing host to Iron Maiden, Bullet For My Valentine, Buckcherry, Zodiac Mindwarp and Backyard Babies to name a few, always providing a safe haven for London's rockers and goths, punks and metallers alike. Always entertaining and fun, frequently deranged n' impossibly handsome the wily old Fox continues to rock this town like a motherfker...!!!
